About Sustainable Living & Growing Centers

Sustainable Living & Growing Centers are a destination committed to demonstrating and sharing the principles of sustainable living applied through an integrated systems understanding. The center is a collaborative effort that brings together active businesses that provide important commodities for the local economy while providing critical healthy lifestyle instruction. This transparency creates life-long learning activities associated with a sustainable living agenda that addresses food, energy, and water resources as an integrated system. The goal is to empower individuals, families, and communities with the necessary tools and knowledge for a better quality of life.

SLGC provides events, activities, classes, and experiences for all age groups as a living systems demonstration site. School tours, adult training sessions, and casual walkabouts are all designed to share sustainable living principles and challenge the visitor to adopt changes that will be transformative. The changes could include eating habits, food purchasing, energy consumption and water management, and other lifestyle changes for an individual or family.

SLGC is a “catalyst” for community transformation as well. As an economic catalyst, SLGC draws visitors, researchers, students, and community leaders from around the country to experience the regenerative principles of community approach to integrated food and energy systems.
